Robert Aubrey Lancaster, Jr, 74, of Richmond Kentucky passed away February 19th, 2021 at U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care in Lexington Kentucky. Robert was born in Prince George's County, Maryland on November 8th 1946 to the late Robert Aubrey Lancaster, Sr and Cecilia Lancaster. A graduate of Howard University, Robert was a decorated veteran of the Air Force where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal (One Bronze Oak Leaf), and the Air Force Commendation Medal (One Bronze Oak Leaf) among many, many other awards. Robert was a Command Pilot with 3400 flight hours in 25 different aircraft and piloted over 153 combat missions. After 20 years of distinguished service in the military, Robert retired with a rank of Colonel and continued his love of flying as a Pilot for United Airlines both domestic and international.
He is survived by his son Robert Aubrey Lancaster III (Theresa), daughter, Lori Lancaster Adams (Matthew), two grandchildren, Justin Lancaster and Alexandra Adams, sister Barbara Okon and Thelma Lancaster (deceased).
Visitation will be March 8th at 11:00 am at Betts and West Funeral Home, 404 N Main St, Nicholasville Kentucky 40356. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. www.bettsandwestfuneralhome.com
