Nicholasville-Alecia LaNell Cartwright Ward, 46, loving and devoted mother of Lynsey Frances Ward, of Harlan Drive, died unexpectedly May 11, 2009. She attended Bethel Christian Church where she helped lead the Awana Club and was a member of the choir. Alecia was a very active volunteer with the Special Olympics, was a member of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. She was an administrative assistant at Porter Memorial Baptist Church, a former employee in the office of Judge Bernard Moynahan and was a U.S. District Court Clerk. She was a lifetime resident of Jessamine County, daughter of Patricia Eades Cartwright and the late Charles Allen Cartwright. Additional survivors include a sister, Dana Cartwright, a niece, Sarah Warren, aunts and uncles, Linda and Larry Bogie, Sue and Jerry Evans, Donnie and Beverly Cartwright, Sonja Cartwright, Mike Pierce, Charles Ray and Joyce Eades, Mary Nell Shepherd, Nancy and John Watts, her cousins, Kathy and Tim Fields, Susan and Gary Middleton, Julie Gregory, Robin and Earl Banks, Kim and Mark Whitehead, Keith and Janet Cartwright, Brian and Kathy Bogie, Michelle Evans, Jill and Dan Conrad, Ellen and Ron Rose, Tonya and Andy Fulton, Shawn Cartwright, Chris Pierce, Denise and Mark Thomas, Jennifer and Jon Smith, Sandy and Ted Hall, Frankie and Angie Eades, Stephanie and Brett Hobbs. Randy Bullock, Missy Sundquist, Thomas Bullock, and Billy Shepherd. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grand parents, Perry and Grace Eades, paternal grand parents, Clyde and Katherine Cartwright. Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, May 21st at Porter Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. William D. Henard and Rev. Bill Bales officiating. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 9:00 pm Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19th and 20th at Betts & West Funeral Home and Thursday May 21st from 11:00 am until time of service at the church. Bearers will be Keith Cartwright, Brian Bogie, Tim Fields, Marshal Tingle, Alexander Tingle, Gary Middleton, Frankie Eades and Ted Hall. Honorary bearers will be the Nicholasville Police Department.
