Anita Flora Settles

November 20, 1932 — December 22, 2013

Nicholasville-Anita Flora Settles 81, wife of Gene Settles, entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2013 at her home after battling Parkinsons Disease for many years. Mrs. Settles was born on November 20, 1932 in Bridport Vermont. After joining the U.S. Air Force in her late teens she was stationed at Oklahoma State College where she studied Business Administration and graduated head of her class. Anita married Robert Eugene Settles whom she met while stationed at Mitchell AFB on Long Island, NY. They were married for 59 years and the Lord blessed them with 7 children. Anita became an active community volunteer. She was a member of Birthright of Lexington, Cursillo of Lexington, Hospice of the BlueGrass, St. Luke's Women's Club, and Parkins Support Group. Mrs. Settles was a devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church of Nicholasville, KY for 40 years. She was affectionately known for her hugs, she had a great love of family, friends, faith, and fellowship. She enjoyed playing cards and was a loving friend. She was an inspiration and an anchor to all who knew her. Mrs. Settles is survived by her beloved husband Gene Settles and children, Jodi (John) Duce, Dan (Karen) Settles, Randy (Amy) Settles, Melanie (Jim) Hopwood, Tim (Rachel) Settles, and Jaime (Sherri) Settles. 15 grand children and 3 great grandchildren. Services will be 11:00am Friday at the St. Luke Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home with a Rosary service scheduled for 7:45pm. Online guestbook at www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com
