Barbara Jean French

Barbara Jean Cartwright French, 84, wife of Robert “Bobby” French, Sr., passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at her home on Broadway in Nicholasville. She was born in Nicholasville on September 4, 1939, to the late Everett Cartwright and Myrtle Masters Cartwright. Barbara was retired from the Jessamine County Health Department, where she had worked for over twenty years. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bobby; children, Robert “Robbie” French, Jr. (Kim), Donna (Terry) Back, Rebecca French, Patricia (Tom) Kroes, and Roberta Warren (Dana Hammonds); grandchildren, Barbara Sue Pack, Olivia Nicole French, Glenna Michele Pack, Adam Lee French, Jacob Thomas Warren, Raven Nicole Warren Trainor, Lindsay Danielle Kroes Telford, and Lauren Michele Kroes; great-grandchildren, Ian Taylor Cartwright, David Adrian French, Gabrielle Lee French, Abbigail McKenzie Warren, Lillian Mae French, Isaiah Matthew French, Charlie Dale Johnson, Carson Gantry Jefferson, Finlay Alan Telford, and Callum Joseph Telford; as well as her special caregiver, Jean Ann Hammond. In addition to her parents, Everett and Myrtle, she is preceded in death by one grandson, David Everett Cartwright. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 27, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, where bearers will be Adam Lee French, Jacob Thomas Warren, Ian Taylor Cartwright, David Adrian French, Gabrielle Lee French, Eddie Telford, and Sean Trainor. Eric Noland and Darrell Hall will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
