Benjamin Lewis Baker, 88, husband of Velony Ann “Cookie” Griffith Baker and the late Fay Stephens Baker, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on January 22, 1933, to the late Earl and Bessie Lowery Baker. Benny was retired from Sleepy Head House after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Apostolic Fellowship Holiness Church and had been a Pastor since 1968 and had continued pastoring until recently. He enjoyed making crafts with his wife and loved his family dearly. He is survived by five sons, Roy (Norma) Baker, Walter (Hazel) Baker, Randy (Tonya) Baker, Jeffery Blevins, and Mark Blevins, two daughters, Janet (Billy) Taylor, and Darlene (Kim) Reynolds, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Nathan Baker and Michael Reynolds, and one great-grandson, Adam Warren. Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Earl Mewhorter, Kim Reynolds, Josh Baker, Calvin Reynolds, Nick Warren, and Brooke Warren. Honorary Bearers will be Billy Taylor and Tommy Long.
