Bessie -Irene- McClure Hager, 74, passed away in her home February 11, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Harrison Nelson Hager, a motherly aunt Eva -Lee- McClure, three children, Peggy (Gary) Stinnett, Bonnie Stinnett and Morris W. Hager, her grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Buchenroth, Darrell (Kelly) Stinnett, Katie (Jason) Seybold, Laura (Mike) Gill, Nelson (Keisha) Stinnett and Whoppy (Lynsey) Peel, twenty great grandchildren, loving family members, Billy (Betty) McClure, Judy (Roy) Rogers, Curtis (Mary) McClure, Grace Hager, several brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her son, Harrison Nelson Hager Jr. and a loving uncle, William -Bill- McClure. Irene retired from St. Joseph Hospital in 1997 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Hickman Creek Coon Club where she was famously known for her fried green tomatoes. Services will be 1:30 Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johns and Rev. Willie Laswell officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Bearers will be Darrell and Nelson Stinnett, Whoppy Peel, Garrett Ogden, Jeff Buchenroth and Jason Seybold. Honorary Bearers will be Charles Alden, George Grant, Curtis and Billy McClure, Johnny and Wayne Smith and Louis - Jimmy- Peel. Contributions suggested to Hospice of the Blue Grass.
