Betty Oaks Curtsinger, 80, married to William Jake Curtsinger for 59 years, passed away peacefully at her home on May 3 from ALS, (Lou Gehrig 's disease). Betty was the beloved mother of Kim Curtsinger and granny to her beloved 'grandog', Casey. Betty was born Sept 21, 1933 to the late George Edward and Leona Tudor Oaks. Betty was a long time member of the Nicholasville Christian Church. Betty was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. She loved and cared for Mitz, Butch, Checkers, Crackers, Cooper, Suds, Lucky, and Randy, often setting up all night to hold her ailing 'brown-eyed boy' Cooper in her lap on the couch. Betty also loved going to Keeneland and seeing the majestic thoroughbreds. In her spare time Betty enjoyed decorating her home, and being outdoors with her family. Services will be 1:00pm Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8pm. Family members will serve as bearers. The family would like to especially thank Becky Arvin, Norma Ransdell and Sue Johns for all they did for us during Betty's illness. Additionally the family expresses much gratitude to both Hospice of the Bluegrass Pink Team, and Almost Family for enabling us to care for Betty in her home. To honor Betty's memory, the family requests that any expressions of sympathy be in the form of a donation to Friends of the Animals of Jessamine County in honor of Lucky, 5363 Sugar Creek Pike, Nicholasville 40356, or Hospice of the Bluegrass 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington KY 40504.
