Billy June Warner

Nicholasville-Billy June Warner, 82, widower of Barbara Peel Warner, of Sulphur Well Road, died January 10, 2010 after an extended illness. He was an Elder in the Nicholasville Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a life long farmer, a master carpenter, served as a member of the Jessamine County Board of Education, was the past president of the Jessamine Co. Farm Bureau, served on the board with Southern States, was active in the Jessamine Co. Beef Cattle Association, was a manager and umpire in the Jessamine Co. Little League and Babe Ruth organizations, played and coached for many years for the Nicholasville Christian Church softball team and was a KY Colonel . Mr. Warner was a recognized champion tobacco grower at the Kentucky State Fair for over 35 years. He was a native of Jessamine Co., son of the late Willie and Beulah Barker Warner. Survivors include two children, Brenda June Warner Staggs and her husband Sterling of Ft. Thomas and Bruce Warner and his wife Debbie of Nicholasville, grandchildren Dr. Lydia Ann Warner Staggs (Justin Stuber)-FL, Sarah Elizabeth Warner Staggs-Ft. Thomas, Scott and Curtis Warner-Nicholasville, two sisters, Palina (Richard) Hurst-Lex., Mary Ruth (Charles) Kottich-FL, a brother, Jimmy (Mary Beth) Warner-Nicholasville, a special sister in law and her husband who gave care to him everyday in his time of need, Margaret and Butch Fugate, a sister in law Dr. Nancy D. Peel, a brother in law, Joe (Jane) Peel, all of Nicholasville, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services will be 1:00pm Thursday at the Nicholasville Christian Church with Rev. Jeff Mandrell officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home and from noon-1:00pm Thursday at the church. Bearers will be Bruce, Scott and Curtis Warner, Sterling Staggs, Butch Fugate and Joe C. Peel. Honorary bearers will be Sarah Staggs, Lemon Lee, Bill Davis, Paul Hendrix, Doug Downing, Howard Downing, Lin McCuddy, Bill Curtsinger, Terry Lunsford and member of the Men-s Bible Class at Nicholasville Christian Church. Donations are suggested to the Nicholasville Christian Church at104 South Second St., Nicholasville, KY 40356 or Hospice of the Bluegrass at 109 Shannon Parkway, Nicholasville, KY 40356.

4-8pm Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Betts & West Funeral Home and Noon-1:00 Thursday at Nicholasville Christian Church

1:00pm Thursday January 14, 2010 at Nicholasville Christian Church
