Nicholasville-Carla Ann Nickell Perkins, 55, wife of Bobby Perkins, departed this life July 20, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 19, 1958 in Jessamine County, KY to the late Carl Nickell and Esther Lowery Nickell Hassloch. Carla was a retired Realtor and homemaker who loved life, loved cooking and working in the yard, spending time on the lake with family and friends and her time with her special Granddaughter and Best Friend, Emilie Catherine Stinnett, her family also includes her daughter, Melody Ann Perkins, stepsons, Brian (Terry) Perkins, Mark Perkins, Jason (Casey) Perkins, seven grandchildren, a brother, Jeffery (Marcia) Nickell, an uncle, John (Mary) Nickell, and other family members. Bearers will be Steve Dean, Buddy Sherrow, Mike Johns, James Hubbard, Ronnie Hopkins, Bob Walling and Harry Ashcraft. Honorary bearers will be Jan Dean, Betty Joe Sherrow, Jeanette Johns, Gloria Hubbard, Angie Hopkins, Margaret Walling and Debbie Gardner. Special Thanks to Dr. Billy Camp and his staff and to Hospice of the Bluegrass for their help and kindness during this difficult time. Services will be 11:00am Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
