Charles Earl Vickers, 70, husband of fifty years to Jody Hubbard Vickers, died February 6, 2014, in Fort Pierce FL after a brief illness. Charles was retired from IBM/Lexmark after 31 years, was a KY Colonel, member of the Jessamine Co. Beef Cattle Association, Buckhead Ridge Baptist Church and attended Little Hickman Christian Church. He was the son of the late Earl and Mildred Canter Vickers. Additional survivors include a daughter and her husband, Tammye and James Lanham of Gravel Switch, four grandchildren, Susan (Denver) Strange of Versailles, Melinda (John) Goldey of Ft. Wainwright, AK, Charles 'Curt' (Heather) Strange of HI and Mary Elizabeth Strange of Gravel Switch, three great grandchildren who were the light of his life, Grayden and Lilli Strange and Izabel Goldey, two sisters, Melvina (Eddie) Brown and Nancy Sams, a brother, James Vickers, numerous other relatives. Services will be 1:00pm Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9pm Thursday and Friday. Bearers will be Charles 'Curt' Strange, Brad Teater, Billy Morris, Glenn Montgomery, Charles Allen Teater, David Canter, Ronald Dale Shearer and Ed 'Duke' Hager.
