Charles Edward "Sunny" Johns Jr.

Nicholasville-Charles Edward 'Sunny' Johns, 81, husband of 62 years to Betty Gardner Johns, died September 2, 2014. He was retired from IBM, was a charter member, deacon emeritus and Sunday school teacher at Edgewood Baptist Church and veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the son of the late Ed and Mable Johns. Additional survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (Donnie) Watson,a daughter in law, Pam Johns, three grandchildren, Hunter, Heather and Nikki Johns, a brother, Kenneth (Minnie) Johns, a sister, Joretta Grow and a special brother in law, John Gardner, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Johns, two brothers, Billy and Arby Johns and a sister, Verdenia Johnson. Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Sholar officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Thursday. Bearers will be Walter Bradshaw, Roger Wilson, Brad Wafford, Scott Johns, Curt Poor and Danny Patrick.
