Charlie Wayne “Buddy” Smith, 74, of Hickory Hill Road in Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 27, 1950, to the late Charlie Ray Smith and Lucy Evelyn Gibson Smith. Buddy was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing billiards. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He is survived by his sons, Steven Ray Peel, Mark Anthony Peel (Rebecca Johns), and David Wayne Peel (Cynthia Dawn); daughter, Christina Renee Wingard (John Maranian); sister, Clara June Smith; niece, Tonya Smith; grandchildren, Tiffany, Sierra, David Jr., Brilynn, Kaven, and Jace; as well as multiple great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 30, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Mickey Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where family and friends will serve as bearers. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home.
