Clarisel D. “Blackie” Simpson, 95, widow of Claude W. Simpson, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Pine Meadows Post Acute in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky, on April 30, 1929, to the late Arville Durham and Emma True Durham. She was a former employee of South-Van Catering. She is survived by her son, Claude “Bud” Buford Simpson (Mary); daughter, Ruby S. Guerrant (David); sister, Betty Smith; grandchildren, Kelly McDaniel, Patrick Burus (Chandis), Nathan Simpson, Kimberly Hager (Misty), and Ryan Simpson; great-grandchildren, Natasha McDaniel, Hannah McDaniel, Abigail McDaniel, Kameron Colwell, Cade Colwell, Skylar Simpson, Payton Jewell, and Katie Mastin; as well as eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Claude W., she is preceded by seven siblings and one great-grandson, Colton Burus. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 5, at Midway Cemetery, with Chaplain John Culbertson officiating. Pallbearers will be Patrick Burus, Nathan Simpson, Ryan Simpson, Harry Estes, Clyde Durham, and Chuck Smith. Memorial contributions are suggested to go to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
