Denver Lee Shuman, 85, husband of Mildred Joyce Hudson Shuman, went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Baptist Health Lexington, surrounded by family. He was born on December 21, 1936, in Barnesville, Ohio, to the late Granville Milroy Shuman and Julia Ann Delong Shuman. Denver worked 47 years of service at R. J. Corman as their longest tenured employee, served in the United States Marine Corps, and was also a Kentucky Colonel. He loved the hobby of fixing mechanical items, particularly clocks. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Tammy Shuman, and Sheila Lynn (Daniel); as well as three grandchildren, Denver Harrod, Tyler Harrod, and Byonia Jackson. He is preceded in death by eight siblings. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 7, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Rev. William Holland Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where bearers will be Tyler Harrod, J. F. Hall, Jay Corman, Robbie Hudson, and Jerry Graves. Visitation will be held the evening prior, Thursday, October 6, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Shuman family in their time of need.
