Dickie Ray Hager

Dickie Ray Hager,78, husband of Martha Walton Hager, passed Friday, February 26, 2016. He was born January 17, 1938 in Jessamine County to the late Willie Ray and Pearl Jane Canter Hager. Dickie was a member of Jessamine Christian Church, retired from IBM after thirty five years and then worked for Keenland and Red Mile. Dickie was also a Marine Veteran, loved golf, having started the Senior Golf Scramble at Connemara and continued it at Lone Oak Country Club. Additional family survivors are a daughter, Joni Leigh Sears, two grandchildren, Kassidy Sears and Elizabeth Grace Sears, one brother, Bennie (Pat) Hager, nieces and nephews including a special niece, Connie Banks and other family members. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Hager and a brother, Paul Hager. Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Bearers will be Bennie Hager, Mark Sears, Robert Kidwell, Ernie Jones, J.T. Dunn, Al Gilkerson and Tommy Orme. Honorary Bearers will be the Senior Golf Scramble Members, Kevin Corman, Russ Myers and Carl Smith. Contributions suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Jessamine Christian Church Building Fund.
