Donald Davidson Harkins

Donald D. Harkins, 76, widower of Greta Harkins of Island Drive, died January 10, 2011. He was a devoted husband, loving father and was enormously proud of his grandchildren. He was a semi retired attorney, member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Jaycees, Keenland Club and Thoroughbred Club, served as a director of The Bank Josephine in Prestonsburg, was a graduate of Center College and the University of Kentucky School of Law. Survivors include two sons, Donald D. Harkins Jr. and his wife Linda J. Harkins of Overland Park, KS and William Scott Harkins and his wife Susan Harkins of Nicholasville, grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Ben, William Scott Jr. and Hillary Clay Harkins. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Monte, George and William Harkins. Services will be 10:30 am Friday at Nicholasville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Pamela C. Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9pm Wednesday and Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home, 404 North Main Street, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Bearers will be Nathan, Ben, Will and Hillary Harkins, John Rankin and Brian Bell. Honorary bearers will be Robert Lewis, David Enlow, Max Hoover, Frank Fitzpatrick, Darrell Callahan, Dr. Samuel Reid, Irvine Fox, Pete Lafalce, Randy Hayes, Frank Deltzer, Curt McCall, Jm Host, Robert Aayot, David and Chris Rankin, Dr. Chris Jackson and Roy Gray.
