Donald Monroe Moore

July 30, 1943 — May 19, 2012

Nicholasville-Donald 'Donnie' Monroe Moore, 68, loving husband of 48 years to Irene B. Moore, died on May 19, 2012, after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons and cancer. He was born on July 30, 1943, in Waverly, KY to Elizabeth 'Betty' Moore and the late Thomas 'Zooter' Moore. He was an active member of St. Luke-s Catholic Church in Nicholasville, KY and worked for Prudential Insurance Company for thirty-one years before retiring in 1996. He was a volunteer tour guide at Camp Nelson and hobbies included singing and playing a variety of musical instruments, carpentry, shooting, hunting and poetry writing. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include five children, Ruth Ann (Jerel) Dennis of Nicholasville, KY, Angie (Mike) DiMeo of Lexington, KY, Matt (Celeste) Moore of Nicholasville, KY, Julie (Tab) Brinkman of Wichita Falls, TX, and Kari Hammons of Nicholasville, KY; eleven grandchildren, Eric Johns, Mason, Nick & Scott DiMeo, Jake, Wes, Keith, Kyle & Adalyn Brinkman, and Tyler & Chase Hammons; nine siblings, Gary (Tina) Moore of Henderson, KY, Bobby (Karen) Moore of Henderson, KY, Kathy (Jim) Paris of Lexington, KY, Mike (Carol) Moore of Niceville, FL, Debbie (Chapman) Ruark of Morganfield, KY, Sam (Patsy) Moore of Henderson, KY, Brad (Carolyn) Moore of Jackson, TN, Kenny (Vicki) Moore of Morganfield, KY, and Vicki (Randy) Moore of New Harmony, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 2-8:30pm Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, KY. Requiem Mass will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at St. Luke-s Catholic Church in Nicholasville, KY, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
