Doris Louise Murphy

Doris Louise Willhoite Murphy entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was born on September 20, 1932 in Jessamine County to the late Andrew Willhoite and Sylvia James Willhoite Johnson. On November 5, 1946 she married Virgil Murphy (deceased). Together, they had five children, Linda (Tom) Durham, Johnny-deceased (Judy) Murphy, Barbara (Cecil) Hall, Virgil (Ola-deceased) Murphy, and Kathie Murphy and her family, Lowell Conley, his children and granddaughter Elizabeth Scott. Doris developed a love of farming and raising farm animals on her grandparents farm in Indiana. This passion continued throughout her life. She continued to care for God's creation through her water gardens, gardening and raising her baby calves. She enjoyed a long career as a seamstress in Tococo in Wilmore, KY., and then cared for veterans for many years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Michael and Scott Durham, John Jr. and Anthony Murphy, Eric Collins, Aaron Hall , and Rodney and Phillip Murphy, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. . Visitation will be on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 am and funeral services at 2:00 pm at Betts and West Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Barnes and Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating.
