Dorothy Reed Dixon Webb

Dorothy Reed Dixon Webb, 89, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 3, at her daughter's home in Wilmore, KY. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 7, at the Mount Freedom Baptist Church in Wilmore, followed by a private interment at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on May 23, 1924, to Arthur F. and Gertrude Reed Dixon of Maspeth, Queens, NY. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and won a full scholarship to Traphagen Fashion Institute in Manhattan. She was a Red Cross volunteer during World War II and worked as a fashion illustrator for several years after the war.

Dorothy married Roy E. Webb in November 1945 after he returned from service in the United States Army Air Corps. They moved to East Aurora, NY, where their three daughters were born. The family later moved to Tinton Falls, NJ. After Roy's retirement, the couple lived in Kissimmee, FL, and Lancaster, PA.

Dorothy was active in church activities throughout her life as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and soloist. An accomplished artist, she enjoyed painting in watercolors; several of her works are displayed at Willow Valley Retirement Community in Pennsylvania. She was a volunteer master gardener for the Cooperative Extension in Kissimmee, FL.

Dorothy was a lifelong blessing to her three daughters: Nancy Joanne Webb Webber of Albany, NY; Peg Elaine Webb Keeley of Wilmore, KY; and Janice Amy Webb Crawford of Tinton Falls, NJ. She is remembered fondly by her nine grandchildren: Catherine Webber Rokitka of Seattle, WA; Alyson Webber Alexander of Blakely, GA; Sean David Keeley of Louisville, KY; Nichole Montgomery of Nicholasville, KY; Siobhan Keeley Adkins of Wilmore, KY; Stephanie Keeley of Lexington, KY; Suzanne Keeley of Wilmore, KY; Daniel Crawford of Camden, NJ; and James Crawford of Tinton Falls, NJ. Dorothy also is survived by three great-grandchildren.
