Earl Boggs, 90, widower of Mabel Dixon Boggs, died February 18, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Audubon Society, the KY Ornithological Society, was an alumnus of the University of Kentucky Engineering School, class of 48 and retired after 34 years of service as Vice President of Island Creek Coal Company. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Boggs was active as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts for several years. He was the son of Sam and Lucinda Caudill Boggs. Survivors include two sons and their wives, Michael W. and Susan Boggs, Earl Eugene and Barbara Boggs, a daughter in law, Carol Ann Boggs, his grandchildren, Sgt. Leah Turner, James C. McCall, Bridgit Boggs, Suzanne Feinstein, Kathryn Boggs, Gary Patrick Boggs Jr. and Rachel Laurie, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Goldie Dixon, two brothers, Warren Boggs and Sam Boggs Jr. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Click and a son, Gary Boggs Sr. Services will be 11:00am Monday at Jessamine Christian Church. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Sunday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Bearers will be Patrick, Hunter and Noah Boggs, Ian Laurie, Scott Feinstein, James Byrd Hogg and Brian Turner.
