Emma Jean Dickenson

May 2, 1937 — August 6, 2020

Beloved Mother, Emma Jean Duncan Dickenson, 83, of Nicholasville, Kentucky was lifted-up to heaven by our Lord and Savior on August 6th, 2020 at Saint Joseph Hospital Bluegrass Hospice Care. Emma was the loving daughter of the late Ballard Ray Duncan and Garnett Duncan Lucas and wife of the late James Ray Dickenson. She was born on May 2, 1937 in Keokee, Virginia.
Emma retired from University of Kentucky Medical Center more than 30 years ago. She attended Nicholasville First Assembly of God and was a very devoted Christian. She loved God with all her heart and soul. Emma was often called upon on many occasions to pray for those in need; she was everyone’s “prayer warrior”. Emma will be remembered as a radiant soul, who beamed with joy and was always generous, selfless, putting others before herself and was the core of her family. Emma was a loving and caring Wife, Mother and Nannie. The most precious thing to her was her family, she loved spending time and taking care of them.
Emma will be dearly missed by her daughters: Joanne (Larry) Morgan and Donna Fay Dickenson and son James David (Janet-deceased) Dickenson. She will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren: Tish (Jason) Wade, Lori (Wes) Powell, Michael Dickenson and her great grandchildren: Adison Cobb, Caleb Powell, Ava Powell, and Olivia Wade along with many nieces and nephews. Honorary mention of nieces: Anna Mae Sturgill Huffman and Shawna Sturgill Cass and nephews: Fred Sturgill and Lynn Sturgill. As well as, her church family and friends whose lives she has touched.
In addition to her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Lynn Dickenson, grandson Jason Eric Dickenson, sister Retha Sturgill, and nephew Leon Sturgill.
