Emma Jean Land, 62, wife of William O. Land, died unexpectedly Friday, May 1, 2009. She was born November 9, 1946 in Harlin County to the late Albert and Helen Smith Halcomb. Emma was and member of the Apostolic House of Prayer in Versailles. Additional survivors are a child, William Albert -Boo- (Mattie) Land, three grandchildren, William G. (Jacqueline) Land, Roland and Wanda Land, three step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley Tucker and Little Bear, four great grandchildren, Brianna and Lindsey Land, Haley Whitehead, Nicholas Stanley and numerous brothers and sisters. Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Saylor officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am Tuesday until time of service. Bearers will be James, Danny, William and Rowland, Frankie Simpskin and Robert Halcomb Jr.
