Lancaster- Ernest Verlon Estes Sr., 87, husband of Ruth Wells Estes, of Bethel Road, died February 27, 2012. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years until his health prevented his service to continue. He was the son of the late Joseph Ray and Rose Crawley Estes. Additional survivors include two sons, Ernest V. (Connie) Estes Jr. and Steven Ray (Melissa) Estes, a son in law, Bronce Hager, three grandchildren, Ernest Verlon (Jennifer) Estes III, Steven Ray Estes II and Andrea Estes Dunn, eight great grandchildren, a brother, Jimmy Estes, four sisters, Dorothy Burton, Lula 'Shug' Clark, Mary Carter and Pauline Hall, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Estes Hager. Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-7pm Thursday.
