Ethel Haven Carter 78, widow of the late Ralph Carter, passed peacefully Tuesday, November 4th after courageously facing cancer. She was born in Jessamine County to the late Jesse W. and Zella Peel Carter. Ethel had a generous spirit and she was the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. Oftentimes when we thought of doing for others, she had already done it. She inspired many with her positive attitude. Always quick-witted, she shared her smile and encouraged others to do the same. She could put a smile on anyone's face and lighten a mood when she sang her favorite old songs. She is greatly missed for her love, great sense of humor, and how she loved to laugh. She asked that we think of her when we smell a flower, hear the birds sing, or feel a gentle breeze. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Sue Carter, Billy Crawford (Pam), Denice Connors (JB), and Connie Adkins (Tim). Surviving siblings are Ray W. Carter (Margie), Eva Goldey (Jim), Jane Williams (Robert), Jeannie Teater (Merrell), and Don W. Carter (Rita). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Richard L. Crawford (Becky), and sisters, Anna Louise Davis, Mildred Marsee Wills, and Marguerite Rodriguez. A celebration of life will be held at Betts and West Funeral Home from 3:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday. Memorials suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online guestbook at www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com
