Evalyn Nadine "Jeri" Roller

May 20, 1925 — July 4, 2016

Evalyn Nadine 'Jeri' Roller was born May 20, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas and passed into the embrace of the Lord Jesus on July 4th, 2016.

She is survived by sons David (Yvonne), Leonard (Karen) and Jonathan (Towanna); seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by beloved husband Gilbert and two daughters (Jerilyn and Jana).

Jeri was a long-time member of the Wilmore Free Methodist Church where she is recalled with fondness for her work as a greeter and her gift of hospitality. She was an avid gardener, preferring the beauty and color of flowers over the utility of vegetables. She was a noted memorizer of the entire books of the Bible.

The essentials to note about her life: Jeri's commitment to the way of Jesus at age 10 continued to mature and express itself throughout her whole life and in everything about her life. Her life would not make sense unless seen through the lens of that sweet story of redemption, hope and service. The other essential was the love story she and Gilbert shared. They had a relationship based on shared purposes and simply enjoyed each other so much that they never had 'rough patches' in their nearly 65 years of marriage. The children attest to never having witnessed anger between them or raised voices. They might have disagreed on mundane matters, like where to eat lunch or the color of the couch, but even those disagreements were free of tension and soon resolved. She often called Gilbert, 'heart of my heart, life of my life, love of my love.' These two loves and commitments marked her life.

The funeral service will be at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church on July 21st at 4:00PM, with interment following in the Wilmore cemetery. Visitation will be at Betts & West in Nicholasville on July 20th from 5:00-8:00PM and at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church on July 21st from 2:00-3:30PM
