Evelyn S. Murphy

Evelyn S. Murphy, 95, widow of Ray Edgar Murphy, of Village Parkway, Nicholasville, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at her home. She was born in Jessamine County on June, 29, 1925 to the late John and Susie Fain Sponcil. She worked for the Spears Water Company and was a member of the Nicholasville United Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Greg (Deborah) Murphy, Mark (Deborah) Murphy and Victor Murphy, four grandchildren, Shawn Murphy, Beau Murphy, Chad Ikard, and Ashlyn Carlson, and four great-grandchildren, Gavin Murphy, Ava Murphy, Layne Ogden, and Adlyn Ogden. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Sponcil, and Charles Ray Sponcil and three sisters, Mildred Collier, Ann Willis, and Mary Margaret Reynolds. Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Arp officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Shawn Murphy, Beau Murphy, Chad Ikard, Brent Fairchild, Todd Sponcil, Darren Willis, and Gerald Cobb. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
