Fern Van Hook

August 20, 1929 — December 1, 2020

Fern Van Hook passed away peacefully on December 1, 2020 at the age of 91 in Rochester, NY. She is predeceased by her husband, J.C., her parents, William and Mary Farmer, sister, Sylvia Sears and her brother, Claude Farmer. Fern was married to J.C. for 59 years before his passing in 2010 and together they created a legacy of family and love that will live on for generations. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Carole (Bill) DeMonte, of Rochester, NY, Herb (Tracy) Van Hook, of McLean, VA, and Ben Van Hook (Cheryl) of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrea (Bob) Childs, Julie (Luke) Krull, Mark Scuderi, Jr., Ben Van Hook, Hannah Van Hook, Sydney Van Hook, Marissa (Mike) Miller and her great grandchildren, Addison and Annabel Childs, Ella and Jax Krull. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Doris Lay, of Liberty, KY, and many nieces and nephews. Fern was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived a wonderful life and will be deeply missed. She retired from Brookside Elementary School in Nicholasville, KY., and was a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church. Funeral services were private. Interment will be in Camp Nelson Cemetery next to her husband, J.C. A memorial and celebration of Fern’s life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
