George Oliver Frakes, 88, died April 1, 2014. He was happily married to the late Jane Frakes for over fifty years. George was a small business owner in Lexington for fifty years, having opened Frakes & Sons Jewelers in 1960, as well as being an avid golfer and member of Big Elm Country Club and Woodland Baptist Church. He was the son of the late George O. and Ellen Eades Frakes. Survivors include two sons, mark W. Frakes and Dan S. Frakes, grandchildren, Sierra, George, Daniel, Laura and Addie, a great granddaughter, Scarlet Frakes and a nephew, Tommy Dickerson. He was preceded in death by two sons, William 'Billy' Frakes and George 'Bubba' Frakes II and a sister Carolyn Dickerson. Services will be 2:30pm Tuesday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Rev. Carl King officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:15 Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
