George Taylor Simpson Sr.

March 30, 1952 — September 8, 2010

Nicholasville-George Taylor -Taylor Made- Simpson Sr., 58, husband of Vickie Finch Simpson, of Nicholasville Road died September 8, 2010 after his last battle with cancer. He attended Southland Christian Church where he volunteered as a cook for the Celebrate Recovery Group; he was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous Any Lengths Group at Southern Hills Methodist Church and at Gratz Park. He was a native of Jessamine County graduating from Jessamine Co. High School in 1970 where he was a member of the FFA. Taylor worked with heavy equipment, was a farmer, welder and mechanic amongst other endeavors. He was the son of the late Robert Flournoy Simpson Jr. and Jane Yeary Simpson. Additional survivors include three children, Shareese Simpson Malone, George Taylor (Maranda) Simpson Jr. and Grant Tyler Simpson, six grandchildren, Darick, Grant and Payton Malone, Alexis, Morgan and George III Simpson, two brothers, Rob and Garry Simpson, two sisters, Alta Marshall and Sue Mims, special friends, Landy and Sherry Dale, Trey Fritz and numerous others. Services will be 2:00pm Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9pm today and from Noon-2pm Saturday. Bearers will be Landy Dale, Jeff Reister, Trey and Travis Fritz, Billy, Kenny and David Morris. Honorary bearers will be Mark Mahan, Tommy Wolf, BrianRhineheimer, Steve and Barry Cornett, Mike Griffith, Tim West, Mark Andersen, and Kelly Shaw.
