Geraldine Sexton Collins, 87, widow of Orville Collins, died Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was born October 10, 1926 in Knott County, KY to the late Kernel and Maggie Amburgey Sexton although she spent the first 45 years of her life in Letcher Co., near Whitesburg, KY. Survivors are three children, Monell (Henry L) Garrett of Augusta, GA, Rick (Donna) Collins of Richmond, KY and Roger (Jean Ann) Collins of Nicholasville, KY, six grandchildren, Jimmy and Roger Garrett, Flint Collins, Lauren Bellamy, Beth Lanaghan and Hayley Stump, five great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Madison, Mia and Asher, a sister, Monette Short, three brothers, Robert Sexton, Newton Sexton and Buddy Sexton. She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Collins. Geraldine or 'Geri' as she was known to her friends, lived the last forty years of her life in the Lexington area and resided in Nicholasville at the time of her death. She was a avid UK and Cincinnati Reds fan and liked to watch them on TV, a bowler for over 50 years, member of the Ladies Sr. Bowling League at Southland and still bowling games over 150 just two months ago at the age of 87. Services will be 10:30 Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor John Smoot officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Bearers will be Jimmy and Roger Garrett, Flint Collins, Stephen Stump, Jim Lanaghan and Ben Bellamy.
