Gladys C. Sams

July 7, 1929 — July 12, 2013

Gladys Carter Sams, 84, widow of Walter Sams, died July 12, 2013. She was born July 7, 1929 in Woodford county, the daughter of the late John Will Carter and Beulah May Games Carter. She was a charter member of Brookside Baptist Church and was retired from the University of Kentucky Medical Center. In her early years of employment, she worked at the original Parkette and also at Proctor and Gamble on the peanut line. One of our fondest memories was her coming home from work smelling like roasted peanuts. She loved to fish and camp with her husband and spent many summer vacations camping at the ocean.

She was the beloved mother of Kenneth Wayne Sams, , Belinda Labadie (Keith Dodson) and Mary Ann (Joel) McLeroy, grandchildren, Glenna Davis, Benjamin (Holly) Mealer, Rebekah Tabb, Erica and Sean Dodson, great grandchildren, Mason and Carson Mealer a brother Donald Carter and sisters Lois Neely and Phyllis (John) Hufford, her uncle Stanley Carter and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was blessed with many friends especially Francis Collins and Betty Jo Glass and the members of her Sunday school class and her Wednesday morning prayer group. She was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Carter and Ray Carter.
