Harold E. Waits, 89, widower of Callie S. Waits, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Baptist Health, Lexington. Son of the late Robert and Bessie Thornton Waits, he was a lifelong resident of Jessamine County. He is survived by one brother and best friend, Ray Waits, one son, Carl Waits (Beth), one daughter, Shirley Dezarn (Beverly) of Madison County; three grandchildren, Ashley Waits, Callie Dezarn Westerfield (Christopher) of Nashville, TN, Josh Dezarn (Morgan); two great grandchildren, Connor and Sophia and longtime beloved caregiver, Johnetta Porter.

In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Ray, three brothers, Alvin (Buster), Luther (Pete) and Hartful Waits.

Harold was a retired farmer and former stockholder in Geary‐Wright Tobacco Warehouse in Lexington. He was an elder at Providence Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a member of the Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association and the Jessamine County Fair Board.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, at Providence Christian Church, conducted by Reverend Carol Devine with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marlon Waits, Robert Waits, Bert Walker, Josh Dezarn, Christopher Westerfield and Matthew Hulsing. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Bruner, Eddie Cox, Sid East, Susan and Sid Hopkins, Doug Marshall, Geri Polvino and Lee Dale Stinnett.

Visitation will be 1:00‐8:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, at Betts and West Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Providence Christian Church, 101 Providence Way, Nicholasville, KY 40356.
