Harry G. Montgomery, 86, widower of Mary Belle Canter Montgomery, of Little Hickman Road, died at his home on Monday, October 27, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Jessamine County on August 23, 1928, the oldest child of the late B.F. and Madelene Carter Montgomery.

He was a lifelong farmer and owner of Montgomery Grocery for 32 years. He attended Wesley Chapel Methodist Church with his wife for many years. Harry was a U.S. Marine Veteran entering at the end of World War II.

He is survived by three children, Wayne (Melissa Waller) Montgomery and Glenn (Charlene Wilson ) Montgomery of Jessamine County and Virginia Montgomery (David) West of Nicholasville; eight grandchildren, Ronald Glenn Montgomery Jr., David Kelly(Meghann) West Jr., Justin Royse (Kerri) Montgomery, Ryan Keith Montgomery, Alex Griffin (Danielle Dovner)West, Brandon Lee (Sandra ) Montgomery, Kyle Wilson (Laura) Montgomery, and Mary Bethany West and nine great grandchildren, Shelby Rae, Charles Daniel, Bailey Ann, Anna Claire, Harper Frances Montgomery, Shiloh Belle West, Anderson Lee , Sullivan Benjamin and Oliver Wilson Montgomery, a sister, Anna Jones Mullican and a brother, Isaac Montgomery. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lester Montgomery.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2014 at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Baltzer officiating and burial in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be his eight grandchildren and Taylor Reid. Honorary bearers will be Johnny Canter, Jerry Roberts, Bobby Watts, Charles Alan Teater, Billy Teater, Todd Skelton, and Charles Hager. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00PM- 9:00PM at the funeral home.
