Helen C. Collins, 86, widow of J. T. Collins, died at her home on Sunday January 29, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was a native of Woodford County, daughter of the late Harry E. and Dora Strange Chapman. Helen was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a banker for over 30 years. Survivors include a son, Ronald Thomas (Dora) Collins , a daughter, Judy Gay Collins Drakeford, three grandchildren, William Russell (Erin) Cole, Michael Thomas (Patty) Johns and Sherrie (David) Bullock, ten great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley T. Chapman, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son in law, Robert Drakeford. Services will be 1:30pm Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Barnes. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Tuesday. Bearers will be Mike and Danny Chapman, Barry and Richard Collins, Michael Johns, David Bullock, Max Johns and Russell Cole. Honorary bearers will be Pauline Hager, Ruth Preston, Doris Stephenson, Pansy and June Hurt, Victor Robinson, Shirley and Kenneth Teater and Mary Woods.
