Jack Perry Messer, Jr., 67, husband of Melissa Brumley Messer, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, on August 5, 1956, to the late Jack Bigelow and Hazel Owens Moore. Jack was retired from the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Joseph Messer, Jacob Messer, Danny Ray Brumley, and Brandon Ray (Mary) Brumley; daughters, Sarah Jo Messer Bruining and Shannon Lynn (Derrick Foresman) Brumley; and grandchildren, Kyla Bruining, Raylyn, and Luke Foresman, Heavenly and Brandon "Bam Bam" Brumley Jr. Additional survivors include three brothers, James (Kathy) Bolling, Richard (Laurie) Bolling, and William (Debbie) Bolling, and four sisters, Ruby Coldiron, Barbara (Marvin) Allen, Tammy Campos, and Melissa Narwold, his sister-in-law Michelle Starr, mother-in-law Janice Starr and niece Ashley Nicole Starr and a brother-in-law Kenneth Starr. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Spurlock. The family will receive friends from noon till the funeral service hour of 1 PM. Graveside and Military services will be conducted at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2024. Kenneth Starr, Danny Brumley, Brandon Brumley, Harry Small and Clayton Mayberry will serve as bearers.
