James Andrew Banick

James Andrew Banick Sr. lost his battle with Parkinson’s July 31, 2020. He passed peacefully at 2:00am at Baptist Health Lexington, Kentucky. Jim was born September 13, 1939 in Akron Ohio to Rose and Tony Banick. After graduating Hickory High School, Class of 1957, Jim joined the Army Reserves. The next 31 years he devoted to Sharon Steel working his way from slitter operator to Maintenance Supervisor in the cold mill. His finished his career at Thomas Steel Corporation and finally P.E. Technologies. He attended First United Methodist Church in Sharon, PA. He also served on the Board of Directors at the F.H. Buhl Club where he loved to play handball. When he wasn’t playing handball, he was either on the softball mound, supporting his bowling team or playing a round of golf. As a true provider, Jim and Bonnie raised their family at 204 Spruce Street in Sharon PA. Surviving are: Bonnie Banick, loving wife of 60 years, son James Banick Jr. and his wife Judy, son Jay Banick and his wife Sherry, sister Sharon Gagliardi and Rick, sister Rena Banick and RD Thompson. He also leaves two grandchildren: Jovan Tappel, Marty Tappel (husband) and great grand children Owen and Oliver. Justine Jennings, Scott Jennings (husband) and great-grandchildren Ian, Jordyn and Greyson and also several cousins. Also preceding him in death, parents Rose and Tony Banick, brother Bill Banick and sister Pat Hart. In 2012, Bonnie and Jim relocated to Nicholasville, KY to be close to family. He was most happy when surrounded by his family. No memorial services will be held but memorial contributions may be made to F. H. Buhl Club, 28 Pine Street, Sharon, PA 16146.
