James R. Bailey

James R. Bailey, 95, died November 18, 2008 at Homestead Nursing Center in Lexington. He was born October 13, 1913, son of the late Floyd and Daisy Conley Bailey. Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army for twelve years, two of those overseas, attaining the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge due to physical disability. While in service Mr. Bailey was given a commendation for being an outstanding marksman. He was a member of the Cane Run Baptist Church in Lexington. Survivors include a sister, Betty B. Painting and her husband Donald, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Justus H. Bailey and three sisters, Nella M. Bailey, Helen C. Bowyer and June O. Hagans. Services were conducted 11:00am on Friday November 21, 2008 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
