Jewell Marie Stinnett East

May 18, 1925 — March 7, 2014

Nicholasville-Jewell Marie Stinnett East, 88, passed peacefully from this Earth to her Eternal home, on Friday, March 7 at the hospice care center at St. Joseph Hospital with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Luther Stinnett and Josephine Grant Stinnett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul East, and her sisters, Ozella Underwood, Opal Durham, Rena Morris, brothers Brutus Stinnett and Vernon Stinnett. She leaves behind to cherish and honor her memory her children Paul Douglas East and his wife Dr. Deborah J. East, of Winchester, Ky ,Dr. Keith East and his wife, Bonnie Cleasby East, of Easeley, South Carolina, Martin D. East and his wife, Tammy Blevins. East, of Nicholasville, and Dawna East-Mccoy and her husband, Dr. Kenneth McCoy, of McCordsville, Indiana, along with her grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas East and his wife, Dally Hubbard East and their child, Molly Grace East, of Social Circle, Georgia, Adam Christian East, and Ryan East of Charleston, South Carolina, Amanda Leigh East and Lauren Ashley East of Nicholasville, and Kelsey McCoy, Kendal McCoy, and Kaelen McCoy, step-grandchildren Marshall White, John White, Michelle White McIntosh, Lee Anne White, and Scott White.

She was a loyal and faithful member of Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church, a retired employee of Texas Instruments, the co-operator of East Service Station on Danville Pike, owner of East Service Station on Main Street in Nicholasville, and was a volunteer for Hospice.

Her greatest enjoyment in life was to see her children and grandchildren succeed and no sacrifice was too great for her to make for her to assist in their education.

Services will be held at Betts & West Funeral Home on Main Street in Nicholaville on Wednesday, March 12 at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Gilispie officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. The family will receive friends at family at Betts & West on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne East, Sheldon Baker, Robert M. Williams, Johnny Bob Howard, Evan Bullock, and Brian Hortin. Honorary bearers will be William Walter Halfhill and her church family from Roberts Chapel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brenda Hay, Eleanor Johns, Lisa Harper, and Jan Brown, all of who were a great source of friendship and support to her over her last few years.

Donations in her memory are encouraged to Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church.

She will be missed.
