Jimmie T. Higgs, 105, widow of Robert T. Higgs, who preceded her in death in 1971, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Effie Crowder Goss. Mrs. Higgs was a faithful member of the Nicholasville Christian Church and a member of the Hanley Homemakers. She was a Jessamine County resident for most of her life, except the last three months in which she resided at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington. She is survived by her son, Harold L. Higgs and his wife Mary Lee of Nicholasville, a grandson, William R. Higgs and his wife Liz of Louisville and two great grandchildren, Matthew L. and Lillian M. Higgs of Louisville and a sister, Frances G. Lane of Nicholasville, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, August 28, 2009 at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Mandrell, Rev. Pamela Rucker and Dr. William R. Higgs officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Matthew Higgs, Charles David Collins, Allen Collins, Bob Damron, Greg Copley, and Timothy C. Brown. Honorary bearers will be Calvin Greenup, Cecil McGee, Cecil Tudor, Billy Fount House, Ronald Lane, Jimmy Greene and Ricky Greene. Visitation will be today from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
