September 2, 1980 — December 26, 2017

John Charles Addison Cowart
Born: Sept. 2, 1980
Died: Dec. 26, 2017
Charles is survived by his parents, Leslie and Carol Cowart, his sister Elizabeth Tingle, his 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Patrick, Caroline, Kaedence, & Matthew Tingle, 2 great-uncles Wayne Cowart and Larry Crisler, and a cousin Cayce James. He was an amazing human being, a typical brother to a sister, a fantastic friend, a living example of love, the world’s greatest uncle/babysitter, a cherished son, a follower of Christ, and a chosen child of God. Charles came into this world without fanfare in the most inauspicious of circumstances with a laundry list of birth defects that qualified him for the prognosis of not living through the day of his birth. The hospital discharge papers literally said that he was being sent home to die, which he did 37 years - 3 months – 25 days later. A little blonde-haired boy with a misshapen body who was considered unfit for life who by his very existence and survival against all odds changed hospital policies, medical knowledge, procedures, and helped countless numbers of others around the world to receive the medical care that they deserved, who also changed hearts and minds by his boundless capacity for loving others. This boy forced some of the most renowned members of the medical profession to speak these words; “He’s healed, and we don’t have any answers for it.” A graduate of Morgan County High School, Madison, Georgia, in 2000 and a former member of Bostwick United Methodist Church, Bostwick Georgia, Siloam United Methodist Church, Siloam, Georgia, and a current member of Wilmore Free Methodist Church, Wilmore, Kentucky. An ardent fan of the Asbury University Men’s Glee Club and a lover of dogs. In recent years he built a full time career rocking, and lulling his nephews and nieces to sleep when infants and then moved on to entertaining them as they have grown older. He was the recipient of an endless supply of art work produced by the quartet of budding artists who were constantly praised and encouraged with their artistic endeavors. He was a man of letters, letters written by him to all of the people in his life expressing his love, speaking his frustrations, and giving voice to the pains that he endured as he aged. John Charles Addison Cowart was not perfect, but he was the perfect son, the perfect brother, the perfect friend, the perfect lover of people, and now the perfected Child of God. A celebration of life will be held at Bostwick UMC in Bostwick, GA on December 30th with visitation at 10 and services at 11. Burial will take place at the Bostwick City Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church fellowship hall following the burial.
