John Farrar Webster, Jr.

November 12, 1945 — December 16, 2023

John Farrar Webster Jr, (78), of Lexington Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at University of Kentucky Medical Center. John, known to many as Big John Webster, was born to John Farrar Webster Sr. and Anne Velois (Terhune) Webster, on November 12th, 1945 in Lexington Kentucky. John was gifted with mechanical skills at a young age and was always able to repair, fix, or modify machines to work better than new when presented with the opportunity. This skill followed him throughout his life and became a foundation he could always rely on. John was also well known for his tremendous athleticism in his youth and his musical ability later in life. John is survived by his son, Shaun Webster (Wife Crystal) and three beautiful granddaughters, Abigail Ann, Amelia, and Audrey Webster. He is also survived by three sisters and their spouses, Cindy and Bud Nave, Melanie and Doug Burton, and Emily and Chris Hall. John was predeceased in death by his parents John and Anne along with his younger brother Daniel Webster. John’s youth was filled with challenges that molded him into the man he would become. He had to start working at a young age to help support his family. This is where he would start in mechanics at the local Western Auto on Southland Drive assembling bicycles which eventually lead into auto mechanics. John was not able to play sports as a kid due to having to work but would always win at sporting events during gym and other school related activities. John was also one of the toughest guys in Lexington for a number of years. John was many times not the person looking for the fight but would be the one who finished it. John was a well-traveled man who had many experiences most would marvel at along the way. From his time in California where he would always talk about the concerts and artists to his time spent off the Gulf of Mexico as a rough neck on an oil rig catching hammer-head sharks on his off time. John knew how to have fun for sure. John was well known for making cars and motorcycles go fast, really fast. He would often tell stories of how he would get machines working better than new, along with the accidents that followed. Most would say he was truly lucky to survive into his thirties. John had a brilliant mind and was a literal genius. With his mind and vocabulary John could adapt to any situation and be comfortable with any crowd. John also loved to fish and hunt and was great at both. He had so many fishing stories and the fish always got bigger and bigger. Later in life John enjoyed singing karaoke music and had a wonderful group of friends who shared in this time with him. John was a devout Christian and loved Christ ever since he was a little boy. This followed him throughout his life and was his guide and compass. John loved God and God loved him. John was blessed with a wonderful life filled with great experiences, great people, and great stories. John truly lived in every since of the word, he truly lived.
