Nicholasville-John Perry Blackford, 73, husband of Sonia Joyce Cobb Blackford, of Hunters Ferry Road, died Sunday from injuries sustained in a farm accident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard where he held the rank of Seargent, was a commissioner with the South Elkhorn Water District, a member of Mount Lebanon Methodist Church and was retired from IBM. He was a native of Jessamine County, son of the late Eugene and Madeline Boggs Blackford. Additional survivors include two daughters, Lisa Jo (Glen) Borders and Laura Susan (Patrick Geoffray) Blackford, two grandchildren, Christopher Nicholas Ostrouchov and Katherine Elizabeth Ostrouchov, three brothers, James (June) Blackford, Eugene (Mary Jean) Blackford and Richard (Marie) Blackford, numerous family and friends. Services will be 1:00pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Shroll officiating. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday. Bearers will be his nephews, Jim Lee Blackford, Doug, Robert, Ricky and Timmy Blackford, Doug and David Giles. Honorary bearers will be Richard, Eugene and James Blackford, George Giles, Tom East, Neal Cassidy, Kevin Corman, Denton Willis, Terry Tollman, James Peel and Al Boone.
