John Powdrill

January 25, 1921 — July 19, 2014

John Powdrill, 93, husband of the late Edith Marion Glenk Powdrill, died Saturday, July 19, 2014. John was born January 25, 1921 in Kent, England to the late Charles George Powdrill and Mabel Priscilla Lancaster Powdrill. John and his late wife committed to thirty five years of missionary service for World Gospel Mission in India and Bangladesh. He was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church in Cranbrook, Kent, England and recently attended Wilmore Free Methodist Church. He worked in horticulture before serving in the British Royal Air Force during WWII. John also helped to start a leprosy clinic in Bangladesh. Additional survivors are two children, Samuel G. (Rachel) Powdrill of Wilmore, Lydia A. (Paul) Powdrill Self of Louisville, eight grandchildren, Karen (Bryan) Sallee of WA, Miriam Powdrill and Ian Powdrill of Wilmore, Benjamin and Abigail Self of Louisville, Stef-n (Jedidjah), Elisa (Anil) Berkheij and Hanna (Stef-n) Santing, all of Holland, six great grandchildren, a son in law, Bart Berkheij of Holland and other family members. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Berkheij. Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Wilmore Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Wilmore Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until time of service at the church. Bearers will be Benjamin, Abigail and Paul Self, Ian Powdrill, Stef-n Berkheij and Bryan Sallee. Honorary Bearers will be Miriam Powdrill, Karen Sallee, Priscilla Berkheij, Contributions suggested to World Gospel Mission, P.O.
