John Shelton Spencer, 76, husband of Charlene Fraley Spencer of Nicholasville, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on July 13, 1948, to the late John Shelt Spencer and Margie Orvie Toler Spencer. John was a retired teacher, having taught at several school districts in his career. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Charlene; sons, Jonathan Spencer, Max Spencer, Eric Murphy (Stacia), and Kevin Murphy (Laura); daughters, Andrea Peterson (Travis) and Kelly Deatley (Elliott); sisters, Neva Pearson and Bonnie Spencer; grandchildren, Henry, Liam, Claira, Alice, Felix, Colten, Amelia, Bentley, Adalynn, Aubrey, and Sarah; as well as a host of other family members and friends to hold him close in their hearts. Graveside services and Military Rites will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 6, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Pastor Wally Rendel officiating.
