Nicholasville-John Thomas Carr, 75, husband of Mildred Walton Carr, of West Brown Street, died at his home September 15, 2007. He was born November 21, 1931 to Charlie and Mary Cordelia Fightmaster Carr. He was retired from Pepsi Cola and Malone& Hyde. Mr. Carr coached baseball with the Little League, Babe Ruth and Connie Mack organizations in Garrard, Fayette and Jessamine Counties for over 20 years. He was one of the founders of South Eastern Little League in Lexington. In 1948 Mr. Carr was the Golden Glove Boxing Champion for Kentucky. Additional survivors include a son, Michael Carr, four grandchildren, Joseph Casey Carr, William Cleo Taylor, Ashley B. Carr and Jamie Lawrence, four greatgrandchildren, Savannah, Delaney and Kelsey Carr and Audrey Noe, two sisters, Frankie Jeffcoat and Margeret Smith. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Micah Lawrence. Services will be 10:30am Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Stewart Dawson and Rev. Bill Bales officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Tuesday. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Tom Rose, Randy Schultz, Louis Thornton, James Prewitt and Michael Hammond.
