Joseph Patrick Cropper (“Pat”, or “Joe” to his friends), 72, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on June 19, 2024. He was born on July 15, 1951 in Lexington, Kentucky, the third child - and first son – of Edwin Marshall Cropper and Jean Owen Cochran. Pat attended St. Paul grade school and Lexington Catholic High School. He grew up on Pasadena Drive in Lexington, where he made lifelong friends.
Pat loved kids and dogs, the outdoors and history. He served his country as a United States Marine, including being a communications specialist in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Pat is predeceased by his mother and father, Jean and Ed Cropper, his brother-in-law, David Silk, and his nephew, Johnnie Jacobs; he is survived by his siblings – Cathy (Tom) Dawson, Susan Silk, and Owen (Janet) Cropper; his nieces and nephews – Michael Dawson (Rick Bowling), Bryon (Maria) Silk, Emily (Brian) Crase, Katie Jacobs, Carrie (Philip) Roe and Andrew Cropper; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and loving cousins.
The family will be conducting a private memorial service in September.
