Kenneth Walker Burton

November 20, 1932 — April 20, 2022

Command Sergeant Major Kenneth Walker Burton (Ret.), 89, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022. He was born in Jessamine County on November 20, 1932, to the late Homer Nicholas Burton and Christine Walker. He was retired from the United States Army, where he had been drafted for the Korean war, served two tours in Vietnam, and was awarded two bronze stars. He is survived by two daughters, Tina Kay Derrick (Gary) and Tammy Diane Cox (Tommy), three brothers, Richard Burton (Elizabeth), Samuel Burton (Christina), and Mark Burton (Linda), three sisters, Betty June Steele (Jimmy), Brenda Meyer (Weller), and Ruth Slone (Ned), five grandchildren, Keith Derrick (Taryn), Deanna Derrick, Ryan Derrick, Kevin Cox (Nicole), and Kasey Cox (Jeremy), as well as eight great-grandchildren, Rhett Derrick, Kellen Derrick, Austen Derrick, Macey Cox, Makenzy Cox, Marshall Cox, Bailey Cox, and Bella Cox, numerous nieces and nephews, and a long-time friend, Norma Vanover. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Nullan Burton and Harold M. Burton, two sisters, Sylvia House and Dorothy Reed, and one grandson, Charles Kenneth Cox. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, April 25, at Betts & West Funeral Home. Graveside services and Military Honors will be performed at 1:30 PM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
