Lafayette "Speedy" Young

Lafayette “Speedy” Young, 81, husband of Cathy Pritchett Young, passed away, Monday, February 22, 2021 at Baptist Heath Lexington. He was born in Cody, Kentucky on July 7, 1939 to the late Lafayette Young and Wana Hammons Young. He was a retired mechanical engineer at IBM, he worked at Sutherland Chevrolet as a driver, and was a member of Sulphur Well Christian Church where he served as a trustee. Survivors include sons, Paul Gregory Young (Connie) and Jeffrey Todd Young, daughter, Debbie Smith, sister, Cora “Peanut” Stacy and sister-in-law, Nellie Young, grandchildren, Michael Young, Mallorie Wicker (Matt), James Young, Allie Smith and Wesley Smith, great grandchildren, Zakk Young, Issac Wicker, Alli Wicker, Jaxson Wicker, Leah Young and Molly McBroom. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Pridemore Young, Sister, Voline Stamper, and two brothers, Deanville Young and Roger Young. Graveside Services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery with Dr. John Sanders officiating. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve the Young family. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Michael Young, Mallorie Wicker, James Young, Allie Smith, Wesley Smith, and Josh McBroom.
