Linda Curtright Fugitt, wife for 58 years of Charles Fugitt, of Nicholasville passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born May 1, 1935 in Louisa, Kentucky the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Curtright who operated the Curtright Funeral Home in Louisa. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Beth (Pete) Peters and her nephew Henry (Pat) Peters who was employed by the Young Funeral Home in Louisa. She attended the Louisa school system graduating in 1953. She then attended and graduated from Centre College in 1957 and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky. After graduation she became an elementary school music teacher in the Jessamine County, Kenton County and Boone County school systems. She retired from education in 1986 after 30 years of teaching to join her husband in Atlanta, Georgia who was an associate Executive Director of the Southern Association of College and Schools. After her retirement they moved back to Nicholasville, KY to be with their family and friends and to travel. While in Nicholasville during the 60's she gave private piano lessons and served as Choir Director of the Nicholasville Presbyterian Church until a fulltime director was hired. She was active in KEA, NKEA, KMA, and the DAR. While living in Atlanta she helped organize the Dunwoody neighborhood watch program and served as president for many years. She was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Phi-Delta Kappa, KTRS, DAR and supported her husband in his work with SACS. She was so proud of all her operettas that she directed with her 4th grade students in the music program and she so much appreciated the students willingness to practice and do all the hard work necessary to make them successful. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by nieces, Beth (Dean) Brady of Louisa, KY. Melissa, Julia and Carol Fugitt of Ashland, KY, a nephew, Lee (Nora) Peters of Louisa, KY, a cousin, J. Lee Mershon, Palm Springs, CA and her brother-in-law Bobby (Anna) Fugitt Ashland, KY and many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Betts & West Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Young Funeral Home in Louisa, KY.
