Linda Sue Conley

June 17, 1941 — October 1, 2021

Linda Sue Baldridge Conley, 80, formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Friday October 1, 2021 at her home in Nicholasville that she shared with her loving husband of 56 years, William (Bill) L. Conley. She was the sixteenth (16th) child out of twenty children born to the late Mable Turner Baldridge and Andrew Jackson Baldridge in Flemingsburg, Ky. Her mother passed away at the age of 45 when Linda was six years old. She was raised by her mother’s sister and her husband, Alkie and Bob Kelly (both deceased) who had three children.

Linda at the age of 40 decided to go back to school and started by going to Maysville Community College where she earned an Associates degree. From there she attended Morehead State University earning a degree in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration. Once her degrees were obtained, she was a Professor at Clinch Valley College in Wise, Virginia, Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana and Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. She and Bill moved to Thomasville, NC where they lived for many years before returning to KY in 2017 settling in Nicholasville.

Linda was an avid UK Wildcat fan. No matter where she lived, when it was game time for football or basketball she doned her Wildcat shirt and would root her beloved Wildcats on. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Rummy 500, was an avid cook often making several candies during the holiday season to give to others. Her two passions were her rose gardens and watching the hummingbirds and cardinals. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.

Survivors besides her beloved husband Bill include her daughter Kelli Robinson Conley (Denise) of Nicholasville, her son Mark W. Conley of Crestview Hills and daughter Susan Conley of Nicholasville. She has two grandchildren, Charles (Chuck) Moore, IV and Brooke Hedglin. She was preceded in death by seventeen of her siblings. She is survived by her sisters Midge McBryant and Donna Davis and her sister Nancy Kelly Shelby as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Prior to her death Linda bequeathed her body to the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Her wishes were to not have a service, but to have a Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
